RICCARDO CIRILLO
Documentary Photographer - Barcelona
Hello! My name is Riccardo
I am a father of two teenage sons, I have a patient nature and I like simplicity, both in relationships and in everyday life.
Sometimes I am too demanding with myself, sometimes perhaps too accommodating with others... but without exaggeration!
My recent move from Italy to Barcelona was 'painless'.
True, when you move away from your country you learn to appreciate its uniqueness, but the Catalan capital has a lot to offer, starting with its open mentality, good quality of life and beautiful climate.
My passion for photography is the result of an evolution of youthful interests: despite my technical training, I liked all visual arts.
Drawing, painting and especially film, indisputably the most powerful form of storytelling.
With the paintbrush I did not have enough constancy so I opted for the camera, the result seemed to be more immediate!
Today I consider myself a documentary photographer and, except in specific cases, I carry out my work sessions with the same approach. I am mostly an observer, I prefer not to plan the action, wherever I go I follow the story and tell it in my own way, trying to capture the emotion and hold it.
I do not consider my style better than anyone else's, it is my form of expression.

The great photojournalists of the past have undoubtedly influenced my stylistic research. Robert Capa used to say 'love the people and make them understand' and in this sentence there is the key to carrying out one's profession in a certain way rather than another.
